Universal Healthcare has been a topic that has interested me for a while now. Ever since the 2016 presidential race, the topic of universal healthcare has been a hot button issue. Especially now when we are suffering from a global pandemic. And so I was really excited when I found out I could write an essay on it. 

The thing that everyone seemed to agree on was that Americans overwhelmingly want universal healthcare. And for the most part, people agree that our current system isn’t working.

I was able to find tons of material about universal healthcare in America. It was really interesting seeing how each article discussed it. 

The difference of opinion that I continued to see was the cost of universal healthcare. Cost appeared to be the biggest factor that people disagreed on. Some said it would cost too much, some have said quite the contrary. Another major difference in opinion was whether it could work or not, severely opinion articles I read stated how some Americans don’t want to pay higher taxes to pay for someone else’s healthcare and that the U.S. population is too large to work for a system like universal healthcare.

One of the things that confused me the most was for one of the reasons not to have healthcare is that some Americans don’t want to pay for other American healthcare. I found this weird because it sounded a little heartless.
